For national embroidery month (February in the US) I decided to add some Australian flair and challenged myself to embroider 28 Australian natives in 28 days. The Sturt Desert Rose (also know as Darling River rose) is the state flower of the Northern Territory. Although it is named a rose, it gives me more hibiscus vibes. I love the colours of this flower and the pop of french knots in the centre add a touch of texture to the rest of the piece.
