our eco philosophy

LWB has had an eco-conscious focus since the very beginning. When creating the business, Bess knew she didn’t want to create a lot of waste or leave a big footprint on the earth. She wanted the business to be as sustainable as possible, whilst still providing that ‘luxe’ feel.

Our packaging is one of the biggest elements of the business that could contribute to waste production. This meant we had to look at ways to package our items as sustainably as possible. We are proud to say that the majority of our packaging is now recyclable or compostable and involves minimal plastic. Our packaging has evolved over time and we are constantly looking at ways to improve, whilst making sure that our products are protected from the elements (and rough mail handlers), so that they arrive to you undamaged.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

wren

our commitment

Every element of LWB’s packaging has been carefully thought out to have minimal environmental impact.

From the tape, to the boxes, we have thought about each element and how we can minimise waste. We even use recycled paper to print your order slips, storing them and then printing on both sides for maximum usage…we then recycle the paper when we’re done.

As a small business, we know how important it can be to look after the ‘little guy’, so we prioritise working with other Australian businesses such as Hero Packaging, Print Together and No More Plastic Packaging.

WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

There is no ‘Planet B’, what we do as individuals, and as a business, can change the earth for future generations.

We don’t need a handful of people doing everything perfectly…we need millions of people doing it ‘imperfectly’.

our partners in environmentally-friendly packaging

  • Water-activated tape
  • Kraft envelopes
  • Dymo labels

A NZ-based business, noissue provides us with many packaging elements. Their Kraft envelopes are made from recycled materials, have a double-adhesive strip so you can reuse it, and is printed with water-based inks – making it 100% home compostable, and recyclable.

The Dymo labels from noissue are also home compostable, and recyclable. The water-activated tape is made from FSC certified recycled paper and soy based inks.

  • Compostable mailers
  • Hexagon wrap

Hero mailers (an aussie-founded business) are 100% home-compostable shipping mailers made from 70-80% PBAT (a co-polymer that is completely compostable) and 20-30% PLA (cornstarch).

The Hex Wrap is made from 100% recycled FSC paper and is completely renewable, because after use, it goes straight back into
recycling or into your compost bin

  • Printed booklets, flyers and wraps
  • Circle stickers

Items from Print Together (an aussie small business based in VIC) are printed on 100% post-consumer recycled uncoated paper and are fully recyclable in your home recycling bin. The circle stickers are paper labels made from well managed forest pulp but unfortunately aren’t recyclable. There is currently no fully recyclable sticker available in Australia.

  • NatureFlex™ Cello bags

No More Plastic packaging, an aussie small business based in NSW, provides more than 300 plastic alternative products.

NatureFlex™ is a biodegradable and compostable cellophane-type film made from renewable cellulose fibre. It is certified biodegradable by Australian Standards AS 5810, and can be composted at home.

  • Clear packaging tape
Biogone, a business based in VIC, Australia, products a range of plastic alternatives. Their Packaging Tape is landfill-biodegradable or recyclable with soft plastics.

We also use various other Australian-based companies to provide us with different sized cardboard boxes and padded mailers. These are all recyclable!
